BOOK LAYOUT, DESIGN & PHOTOGRAPHY

I created a book over a section of Muncie that I was assigned to. The idea was to photograph and design a book layout/content. I was assigned a section of Middletown Park Muncie, Indiana. This location was surrounded with trailer houses, abandoned homes and churches, and overall trashed. This is where the title came into play.

The trash theme also came into play not only from the trash that bound the book together, but the overall view many people and opponents of Ball State University have of Muncie,Indiana. I wanted to give a humorous touch to this book design while still keeping it interesting.

The contents of the book include photographs I took of various places located in the section. Each page is accompanied by a piece of trash, and a humorous description of the address. Pages are held together with tape. The outside binding is a blue tarp cut, bound by string and cardboard, the area code on the cover is marked with spray paint to resemble a trash can.
